We welcome Zach Moe to our Advisory Board

We are excited to announce that Zach Moe of Chandos Construction is expanding his commitment to World Housing becoming part of our Advisory Board. Zach’s journey with World Housing began on a chance introduction to our organization during a backpacking trip through Cambodia almost ten years ago. It was in 2013 when Zach participated in the very first house gifting ceremony in Phnom Penh with his friend Stefan Dupuis. At that time Stefan’s father, Pete Dupuis, was launching a new charitable organization called World Housing that began it’s philanthropic mission in Cambodia by building homes for families living in unimaginable conditions in the garbage dumps of Steang Meanchey. This experience and the exposure to the transformational impact World Housing was making for these families left an indelible and lasting impression. Since then, Zach has sought out opportunities personally and professionally where he could combine his passion for construction and community development with ways to help solve the housing crisis in Canada and issues of slum housing across the globe.

Zach Moe grew up in North Vancouver but relocated to Calgary to attend university.
Initially, Zach pursued a degree in Urban Studies, intending to go on to study architecture.
However, he realized his passion was more aligned with development and building than design,
which eventually led him to a career in construction. Shortly after university, Zach joined
Chandos Construction, one of the top general contractor organizations in Canada, where he has worked for nearly a decade. His focus on business development has involved him in projects in Vancouver, Calgary, and Toronto.

Currently, Zach serves as the Director of National Sales at Chandos Construction out of the
Calgary office. He oversees the proposal coordination team and marketing department,
integrating marketing efforts with the company’s business development teams across Canada.
His role at Chandos Construction has fuelled Zach’s passion for projects and programs that support communities in the markets where he works, specifically through Chandos’ Social Procurement efforts.

As an advisor for World Housing, Zach aims to leverage his extensive network and industry
knowledge to expand our organization’s impact and global reach. His role will involve connecting construction providers, builders, and other stakeholders with ways to create impact through World Housing projects that help families in need both domestically and internationally. He recognizes the power of visual progress and the satisfaction of seeing a building project through from conception to completion. He looks forward to applying this principle to the building of safe housing by helping raise the funds and then seeing them turn into homes for the world’s poorest.

If we can get our suppliers and builders on development projects to collaborate and provide a small contribution, we can help fund homes for people living without adequate housing. A home costs approximately $6,000 to $10,000 internationally so if our industry rallies together, we can quite easily provide a home to a family in dire need of safe housing. It doesn’t take a lot from any one company if we all give a little.”

Zach’s approach to his work is driven by a sense of responsibility and pride in building
communities, not just structures. He values the employee-owned model of Chandos
Construction, which fosters a sense of ownership and dedication among its employees. Zach
believes in the power of sharing progress and success stories and the satisfaction of seeing a
project through from conception to completion.

“World housing has always been on my radar,” said Moe. Partly because I got into the construction industry, and now, in my current role, I see the need for safe housing everywhere. We build a lot of seniors’ and affordable housing which is part of Chandos book of work here in Canada. But the housing crisis is everywhere, and we as leaders of an industry that puts people into homes need to do what we can to help those who are living without adequate housing. It’s always been a something that Stefan and I aligned on since Cambodia 10 years ago. How can we, how can I, get involved to help?”
