20 Family Home, Aroyao Pequeño, Philippines

Home cost $7,000

Total Cost: $200,000

We first began our work in Manila in the Philippines in 2016 where we built a 64 home community for families living in unimaginable conditions in the slums.

In 2022 we continued our work in a climate disaster-affected region in the Catanduanes region. The destruction left behind after back-to-back typhoons in 2020 affected everyone in the village of Oguis and neighbouring villages like Aroyao Pequeño, from the elderly to young children. World Housing has worked for the last 2 years with the local building team led by Aldrin Soriao, an architect who donates his time and expertise to leading the construction process.

Homes that can withstand the constant typhoons were designed and built as new 10’ x 20’ concrete homes with kitchen and living areas, a washroom, and a toilet on a septic system, with each home connected to the local electrical and water systems.

The community build includes not only homes, but solar-powered streetlamps, and a community center with a sports field. All of the children of the families also receive access to education and scholarships to the local university.

The next building phase in Aroyao Pequeño is only a few kilometers from the first building site and in need of safe housing. This village was hit by the same series of typhoons in 2020 as Oguis as both are located right next to the Bato River. Its need is even greater as it is one of the poorest villages in the municipality.

When Communities Thrive, People Thrive.
Homes Are Just The Beginning.
