It has been just one year since the World Housing House Party at the Lenkov house. In June 2023, we came together to raise funds to build a new community for 33 families living without safe homes in Cambodia. Peter and Audie Lenkov hosted an incredible evening with family and friends at their Southern California home featuring cocktails, wine, amazing food, and live music from Five for Fighting and Kristen Diable.
Construction is now complete and this month the families are receiving the keys to their new homes. Each family, most led by women with children gathered in the new community this past week to learn which of the homes was theirs. You can see from the smiles what this means to the families, and how it will transform their lives.
After 10 years of work in Cambodia and completing over 650 homes we know that a home is the beginning of life with new hope that comes from having safety and stability. From here true social change begins as the children of the families are provided access to education and healthcare through our NGO partner, Cambodian Children’s Fund. We see the impact as we’ve witnessed young children picked from the garbage dump, and now 10 years later these young people have graduated from university. This is true generational change and how the trajectory of poverty shifts.
CELEBRATE THE GIFTING OF THE LENKOV VILLAGE WITH US!
We are planning this special celebration from October 30th to November 2nd with the gifting ceremony on November 1st. We would love to share this incredible occasion with you! The Gifting Ceremony allows us all the opportunity to view the village on an exclusive tour with Scott Neeson, founder of the Cambodian Children’s Fund. We cut the ribbon with the families and have the chance to meet the people who have received the homes you’ve provided.
This year, World Housing celebrates its 10th Anniversary, and Cambodian Children’s Fund celebrates its 20th Anniversary. Scott, and the entire team at Cambodian Children’s Fund have been World Housing’s inspiration and partner since the beginning, so it will be especially poignant to share this experience.
Donors who would like to join us on the trip will need to organize their flights to Phnom Penh and accommodation (we will provide a list of recommended hotels). World Housing will provide ground transportation and tours of the community.
